The FRESHFARM Arlington Market Expands

The FRESHFARM Arlington Market Grows

Want more wiggle room to hang out with farmers and producers at the FRESHFARM Arlington Market? You’re in luck! In partnership with Arlington County, we have expanded the market footprint this season, adding more space for shoppers to mingle and more farmers and producers to meet years of growing demand. With the market’s history stretching back to 1979, there’s never been a better time to come see what’s new.

The FRESHFARM Arlington Market Grows If you’ve ever wondered why certain local farmers and producers rotate in and out at market, here’s a number that puts it in perspective: the Arlington market currently turns away more than 60 vendor applicants every year. Until this year’s expansion, rotating farmers and producers was one way to keep our product line-up robust and offer opportunities to as many local growers and makers as possible.

The expansion makes room for additional permanent farmers and producers and fits into Arlington County’s broader plans to make Courthouse Square more pedestrian-friendly. The market isn’t just growing; it’s becoming a more integrated part of the public space around it. That’s a win for shoppers and for the neighborhood.

This expansion allows us to welcome more regional farmers and producers, strengthen local supply chains, and continue building a market that reflects Arlington’s energy, diversity, and commitment to community.” — Cat Oakar, FRESHFARM Executive Director

Timing-wise, this expansion couldn’t be better. Last year, Arlington was one of FRESHFARM’s strongest performers. Sales grew 11%, well above the network average. And the future looks bright: data from our markets that have expanded suggests the momentum tends to hold after a footprint increase.

More Farmers and Producers To Shop From

The bigger footprint makes room for eight new regular farmers and producers, as well as a handful of pop-ups to join us throughout the season. New regulars expand our offerings of locally grown fruits, vegetables, and mushrooms, farmstead dairy, snacks for humans and pets, heat-and-eat meals, coffee, and more.

  • Ben’s Produce (Brogue, PA) is an Amish farm specializing in a wide range of seasonal produce. They attended Arlington this winter, and we are pleased to have a permanent spot for them in the main season.

  • Evermore Orchard (Orrtanna, PA) is a family-run farm, orchard, and vineyard in Buchanan Valley, PA offering tree fruit and produce. They began their journey in 2021 and are committed to sustainable, regenerative growing practices.

They also craft value-added goods — including mushroom dietary supplements and skincare like a face serum and body lotion — designed to make mushrooms easy and useful every day for anyone.
