As government funding becomes more unpredictable, programs like FreshMatch are increasingly relying on private foundations, community giving, and individual donors to stay afloat. FRESHFARM is grateful to the Schattner Foundation’s support of FreshMatch, allowing us to respond quickly to the needs of our community as the status of government programs becomes more tenuous.

Ms. Juanita has lived in Southeast DC for decades. After retiring and volunteering with local food access organizations, she eventually crossed paths with FRESHFARM, where she was hired as one of seven Market Champions for DC Health’s Produce Plus program. She is committed to advocating for food access programs in Washington, DC and providing a dignified service to the community.

This summer, the FoodPrints Summer Program provided hands-on cooking and gardening to 150 students at three DCPS sites: Takoma, Langley, and Houston Elementary Schools. Every afternoon, students cooked and ate FoodPrints recipes and explored the school garden.

$30 daily match returns to DC, MD, and VA markets thanks to generous foundation support

Building off our successful FoodPrints school partnership model and past community engagement work, FRESHFARM pivoted our work this year with Early Childhood Education (ECE) centers to focus on deep engagement and education at three centers. Our current partners are: Educare IDEA and Educare Parkside in Ward 7, and House of Ruth in Ward 8.
