Farm Stand Program Manager (Washington, DC)

FRESHFARM is seeking a passionate food access leader to help us expand our Farm Stand Program! The Farm Stand Program Manager will be responsible for supervising the small team of seasonal staff that operates our Farm Stands, managing farm stand promotion, produce ordering, and site partner relationships, and providing general operational support. This dynamic role will be a good fit for a creative problem solver with some experience in people or program management and in organizing or collaborating with low-income low-access populations. The person in this full-time position will help FRESHFARM develop the model for the future growth of our new School Farm Stands; this role is also intended to provide temporary coverage for staff going on leave through the end of 2024, and has the potential for extension into 2025. PUFH Operations Associate (part-time; Hyattsville, MD)

Ready to get down and dirty with the local food system? Apply to join our Pop-Up Food Hub (PUFH) team as an Operations Associate this season! FRESHFARM’s nonprofit food hub is the first of its kind in the nation; as a food distributor, our team works to support small- and mid-sized local farmers while serving community members, especially low-income families and individuals with a need for fresh fruits and vegetables. Operations Associates are responsible for supporting the operations of the PUFH through fulfilling produce deliveries, receiving and packing orders, and maintaining and transporting equipment. This hands-on job is a great fit for independent problem solvers who are excited to collaborate and approach their work with efficiency and focus. Driver’s license and clean driving record required. Bilingual Market Champion (Spanish, Mandarin, or Cantonese)

Are you an active DC community member passionate about food access? Do you speak Spanish, Mandarin, or Cantonese? Join our team as a Bilingual Market Champion! Champions create a welcoming environment at markets for participants of the Produce Plus and Senior FMNP benefits programs – two food access programs currently administered by FRESHFARM that allow DC residents with limited access to fresh, nutritious food to purchase locally grown fruits & vegetables from farmers markets. Market Champions also support program enrollment, provide information and programmatic updates, and ensure that community feedback about the programs is heard. As this role is Bilingual, these Champions will provide this support in English and another language (Spanish and/or Chinese – Mandarin or Cantonese) in which they are fluent. Applicants should be excited to engage directly with customers at various community sites across the District.

Food Access Translators (Contractors or Volunteers)

Are you a local food fan who is fluent in Farsi and/or Arabic? Help FRESHFARM facilitate food access and community building at farmers markets by increasing accessibility through translation! We are seeking project-based contractors or volunteers excited about remote or in-person translation or interpretation opportunities to support our program and its participants. This is a great opportunity to build vibrant relationships with staff, vendors, customers, and other local community members from all walks of life.

Farm Stand Manager (Saturdays at THEARC)

Are you connected with communities East of the River in DC? Are you passionate about facilitating access to local, nutritious fruits and vegetables? Apply to be a Manager at FRESHFARM’s newest Farm Stand, happening on Saturdays at THEARC, located in Ward 8. Our Farm Stands are small outdoor markets that serve as points of access for fresh, healthy produce for local communities. Managers are responsible for creating a vibrant and friendly customer experience while handling Farm Stand operations – such as supporting customers, administering transactions, and setting up and breaking down tents, tables, signage, and technology. The ideal Manager is someone from the local community who can provide food access services that effectively meet residents’ needs. No resume or cover letter is needed to apply!

Farmers Market Staff & Substitutes (Saturdays and/or Sundays)

FRESHFARM is seeking lovers of local food to join our team as Farmers Market Staff or Substitutes! If you’re a creative and flexible problem solver who enjoys working on a team, spending time outdoors, and promoting regional, accessible, fresh food – this is the role for you. Market Staff are responsible for executing market operations, interfacing with stakeholders, and creating a vibrant and friendly market. Our team is currently seeking Market Staff in NW DC, NE DC, Arlington County, VA, or Fairfax County, VA and Substitutes in Fairfax County, VA or the Silver Spring, MD / NW DC area. FoodPrints Classroom Assistants (Spring Semester 2024; Interns, Work-Study Students, & Volunteers)

Interested in growing your food education skills? FoodPrints is looking for people to join our program as Classroom Assistants! FoodPrints Classroom Assistants will support preschool – 5th grade food and garden education classes during Spring Semester 2024.
