Assistant Food Educators to Work in FoodPrints Schools, School Years 2021-23
We are recruiting two DC-area aspiring food educators for up to two years of paid training in partnership with FoodCorps, with a goal of hiring them as full-time FoodPrints teachers at the end of a successful service period.
We are looking for candidates who are passionate about pursuing a career in food education and comfortable working as part of a team to learn and eventually lead programming at a FoodPrints partner school. Additional consideration will be given to applicants that are DC natives as well as members of groups that are disproportionately affected by food insecurity, including low-income individuals and BIPOC.
FoodCorps provides a national orientation, a living stipend, and other benefits to allow service members to be fully immersed in their communities and spend a year (or two) supporting local food education work, and train service members so that they remain engaged in the work post-FoodCorps, often in the same communities they served. The initial commitment is one year (1,700 hours) from August 2020 to July 2021, with an option to continue for a second year. If you are interested in working with FoodPrints, be sure to include this information in your application and select DC as one of your preferred service sites. (Indicating interest in FoodPrints does not guarantee acceptance into the FoodPrints program.) Interviews, offers, and placements for the 2021-2022 school year are expected in June.
