STEP 1:

Please note, enrollment for the 2022 season is closed as of September 1st, 2022.

To receive information about the 2023 Produce Plus season, slated to start on June 1st, 2023, please fill out this form.

Completing the form does not enroll you for Produce Plus 2023. You will still need to complete the enrollment process in Spring/ Summer 2023.

If you participated in 2022, you do not need to complete this form. Please hold onto your card over the winter and we will contact you with new program information in 2023.

STEP 2:

After completing the application form, FRESHFARM will reach out to let you know if and when you are removed from the waitlist and accepted to the program.

If approved for the program, you will receive your confirmation code via your stated communication preference: phone, email, or text.

DC residents that successfully completed an enrollment submission between August 15th and September 1st should expect to receive more information from FRESHFARM via text, phone call, or email the week of September 5th.

STEP 3:

When it is time to pick up your Produce Plus card, bring your confirmation code and proof of D.C. residency (list below) to a participating market or in-person enrollment event. If you have any questions or concerns about residency please contact our team.

STEP 4:

Once Produce Plus begins on June 1st, approved participants can use their Produce Plus card to shop at any participating farmers market, mobile market, urban farm, or farm stand location. Customers can choose which market to shop at and which eligible products to buy!

Frequently Asked Questions:

  • Where can I pick up my Produce Plus card?
    • Card distribution has closed for the 2022 season. Please bookmark this webpage to stay up-to-date on the program. More information about the 2023 season will be available in late spring next year. In the meantime, if you already have a Produce Plus benefits card please hold on to it for next year’s program.
  • How do I check my balance?
    • You can check your Produce Plus benefits card balance at any time. Here’s what to do:
      1. Go to the balance checker website
      2. Type in your Last Name and your Produce Plus Loyalty Number (12 digits; starts with “FR” on the back of your card)
      3. Click the “Check” button
      4. Now you may review your current Produce Plus benefits card balance!
    • It’s best to perform this check from a computer or tablet while connected to a secure Wi-Fi connection. Additionally, participants who applied to the program with a phone number that can receive texts will also automatically receive a receipt upon completing a transaction.
  • What happens if I lose my Produce Plus card or confirmation code?
    • You may replace a lost card by:

      Pick-up at a Market: Please provide as much information as possible, such as your first and last name, phone number/email, address, and confirmation code if  possible:

      • Wednesday: Arcadia/Bellevue Library

      • Friday: Arcadia/Edgewood
      • Saturday: Eastern Market
      • Saturday: Ward 8 Market
      • Saturday: FRESHFARM Uptown
      • Saturday: FRESHFARM Columbia Heights

        You will need both your confirmation code and proof of D.C. residency.
    • If you lose both your card and confirmation code, we can pull your enrollment using additional information you provided; please contact FRESHFARM for assistance: produceplus@freshfarm.org or call (202) 888-4834
  • When will benefits be loaded onto my card?
    • On the 1st of every month, June through September
  • Where can I spend my Produce Plus benefits?
    • You may spend your benefits at any eligible Produce Plus farmers market or market location. There are more than 40 eligible markets across the District! Find the market guide here.
  • What can I purchase with my Produce Plus benefits?
    • Eligible Produce Plus foods: Fresh fruits and vegetables, including herbs
    • Non-eligible Produce Plus foods: Honey and any non-produce items
  • Can someone else shop for me?
    • Yes, someone may shop on your behalf. To shop on someone’s behalf, you will need to bring their Produce Plus card or have their 12-digit Loyalty Number (starts with “FR” on the back of the card) to use with the farmer.
  • What happens if I don’t spend some or all of my benefits for the month?
    • Unused benefits do not roll over or accumulate.
  • Lots of ID numbers? Huh?
    • You will receive different unique numbers when you enroll:
      • Confirmation code (program approval; generated by FRESHFARM as a part of enrollment)
      • Register ID (12 digit code that customers use to spend benefits at the Register – this is on the physical card)

Proof of D.C. Residency (only need to show one)

  • Any income document or ID with D.C. address *Must be issued within the past 24 months.*
  • Bill with current address (medical, cable, credit card, utility)
  • Government-issued ID (Driver’s License, State ID, Voter Registration Card)
  • DC Metro Access Card
  • Lease, Rental Receipt, or Letter from Landlord
  • Shelter affidavit, verification, or letter
  • Vehicle Registration
