Red Velvet Smoothie

This smoothie is a great way to add extra vegetables to a morning routine while keeping it naturally sweet with dates and bananas.

Ingredients:

2 cups milk, dairy or non-dairy, plus more to adjust thickness

2 ripe bananas, chopped and frozen

1 medium beet, diced (about 1 cup)

6 dates, pitted

2 Tbsp cocoa powder

Optional:

2 cups ice cubes

Directions:

  1. Gather all the ingredients and equipment. Wash the produce and prepare it as detailed in the ingredients list.
  2. Add all the ingredients to a blender. Start on low speed, then increase to high. Blend for 45 to 60 seconds until smooth and vibrant. If it’s a little too thick, add a bit more milk. For a slushy consistency, add the ice cubes. Blend on high until the ice is fully pulverized, creating a thick, chilled texture similar to a frozen frappe. Use a rubber spatula to scrape down the sides if any stubborn bits remain. Taste, adjust, and enjoy!
