IRA Gifts: Qualified Charitable Distributions
Individual donors aged 70½ or older, may be eligible to make a gift directly from their IRA to support FRESHFARM—up to $108,000 this year, without incurring income taxes on the transfer. This type of gift, known as a Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD) or IRA Charitable Rollover, comes with several unique advantages.
Why Give With a Qualified Charitable Distribution?
- A gift through a Qualified Charitable Distribution makes an immediate impact for children, families, and seniors served by FRESHFARM.
- Donors required to make a minimum distribution, may satisfy all or part of their Required Minimum Distribution (RMD).
- In many cases, the transfer is not considered taxable income and does not require itemized deductions.
- In some cases, because it doesn’t count as income, a QCD may lower Medicare premiums or reduce the portion of Social Security subject to tax.
