Eat Invasive to Support the Chesapeake Bay!

Sunday Oct. 11, 8:30am – 1:30pm
Dupont Circle
1600 20th St NW
Washington, DC 20009

Eating invasive species — a practice known as “invasivorism” — helps reduce the population of harmful non-native plants and animals that damage local ecosystems. One such species is the Blue Catfish, the largest known species of catfish in North America. Introduced to the Chesapeake Bay watershed in the 1970s, they have quickly risen to the top of the food chain and are actively disrupting native populations, including the Maryland Blue Crab. Strategic consumption of invasive fish supports the recovery of native populations!

Unlike many other catfish, the Blue Catfish isn’t a bottom feeder, which gives it a cleaner, more appealing flavor profile. This is where Chris’ Marketplace comes in. Join Chris and the team as they sample and sell new products featuring the Blue Catfish and raise awareness of how food choices can help save Bay.

On October 11th, stop by Chris’ Marketplace at Dupont Circle to sample Blue Catfish and purchase prepared Blue Catfish Cake sandwiches and ready-to-cook Blue Catfish Cakes to take home!Â
