Market Share Policies & FAQs

Please refer to this how-to video on creating a Market Share account.

For standard subscriptions: Click “Subscriptions,” then “Shop Subscriptions” in the account side bar to create your order. Select your pickup location, share size and frequency, and enter your payment information (credit, debit, e-check) at checkout. You will not be charged for your subscription at checkout, so your subscription total should be $0.00. You will be charged before each pickup or delivery.

For SNAP/EBT recipients interested in purchasing a discounted Market Share: Click “Shop” in the sidebar to pre-order your shares each week during your location’s order period. Pay online (credit, debit, e-check) OR in person (EBT). We cannot accept cash, market coupons, Senior FMNP, WIC, or Produce Plus for any shares.

Standard subscriptions are charged every scheduled week of your subscription, usually a day or two before your pickup. You will not be charged for weeks that you put your subscription on hold, or unscheduled weeks of your subscription. If you have questions about payment or believe you have been charged incorrectly, please contact us here, or email wholesale@ffm.org.

SNAP/EBT discounted shares:

• paid with credit/debit/e-check are charged automatically when customers confirm their orders each week. Please bring your EBT card when you pick up.
• paid with SNAP/EBT are charged in person at market pick-up. We cannot accept cash, market coupons, Senior FMNP, WIC, or Produce Plus for any shares.

Standard subscriptions must be placed on hold at least 4 days in advance of your pickup day so that our farmers and team can plan accordingly. If you attempt to place a hold on your subscription less than 4 days in advance of your pickup, we will not be able to refund you for your Market Share (you could send someone to pick up your share for you, though!)

You will not be charged for weeks you put on hold, or for unscheduled weeks of your subscription. Place a hold as far in advance as you like, and as many times as you like. You can also select a bi-weekly or monthly schedule when you register.

SNAP/EBT discounted shares are pre-ordered each week, so if you do not want a share, don’t place an order that week!

To cancel a standard subscription, please Request Cancellation on your FRESHFARM Market Share account at least 4 days in advance of your desired final pickup day. Your cancellation will be approved within 2 business days.

For both standard subscriptions and SNAP/EBT discounted shares paid online with credit/debit/e-check, if you do not pick up your scheduled or pre-ordered share, you will still be charged full price. Because of our order deadlines with farmers, in most cases we are not able to “make-up” your share by moving your pickup to a different location. Please refer to the “Can I skip a week” section for details about skipping.

SNAP/EBT shares paid in-person with SNAP will not be charged because we are unable to charge EBT cards remotely. However, customers who pre-order shares but do not pick them up may be removed from the program after three instances.

You are welcome and encouraged to have a friend, family member, or neighbor pick up your Market Share on your behalf as an alternative to skipping a pick-up. If you pay for your share with SNAP at-market, please ensure that your proxy has access to your EBT card number and PIN to process payment at-market.

We source from small and mid-sized family-owned farms in the Mid-Atlantic. In 2025, 21% of our farmers identified as Black and Brown, and 44% were first-generation farmers.

We work with smaller farms which face cost and administrative barriers to becoming USDA organic certified. While some of our farmers may not be certified, they tend to use responsible practices. The sourcing for Market Share varies week to week, but the majority of the produce in our bags is sourced from the following farms. Their farming practices are linked:

In an effort to make our Market Share program as sustainable as possible, we are returning to our original Market Share packaging. While we had hoped to eliminate excessive waste by asking customers to return their reusable bags, this system ultimately does not align with the high food safety standards that we strive to maintain. As a result, we will be moving away from synthetic fabric tote bags and returning to plastic bags with a slightly lower environmental footprint. Because these bags are not accepted in home recycling bins, our team will gladly collect any returned bags and ensure that they end up in the correct recycling stream.

If you received damaged or spoiled produce, please let us know via email at wholesale@freshfarm.org. Please include a picture of the damaged produce if possible, and we will try our best to address the issue.

If you have a Market Share subscription, or have placed a pre-order, you will receive an email that includes a list of items in the bag, recipes, and storage tips before your pick-up day.

The produce in your Share will fluctuate week to week and is based on what is in season. This produce chart displays what you can expect during each month of the season. Though it is not guaranteed, you will likely receive many of the items listed under “Good Supply” multiple times, and “Limited Availability” and “Specialty Items” often, though less frequently.

Our procurement team works hard to curate Market Share bags that are widely- enjoyed and generally easy to cook with, while still including some lesser-known or speciality items once in a while. However, we do not offer the option to swap or add produce to the share. If you have strong vegetable preferences, or dietary restrictions the Market Share may not be the right program for you.

We operate rain or shine! We do not close down due to weather conditions unless dangerous conditions are predicted. In the event that we are forced to close, we will communicate in advance via email and/or text to Market Share members.
