Shane Hughes, farmer and owner of Liberty Delight Farms has a lifelong passion for farming that finally began on his family’s historic property located in Reisterstown, MD. After college, when he entered the world of corporate finance, the farm became his sanctuary/haven/refuge on the weekend after a long week of commuting into the city each day. Finally, in 2009, he turned down a corporate promotion and took over the family farm. Shane takes great pride in offering a free-range environment to all of the animals on the farm. All of Liberty Delight’s animals are raised without growth hormones, stimulants or antibiotics.
Shane is active in the Maryland agriculture community, on the board of Future Harvest Chesapeake Alliance for Sustainable Agriculture, Treasurer of the Maryland Simmental Association and a board member of the Baltimore County Farm Bureau, he enjoys helping to preserve and shape the future of sustainable farming.
