The FoodPrints Curriculum Framework: Engage, Explore, and Evaluate and Close

The FoodPrints Curriculum adapts the Biological Sciences Curriculum Study, (BSCS) 5-E Instructional Model. Through a cycle of learning, students construct meaning and understanding through tapping into past knowledge and hands-on experiences and a teacher-guided inquiry process.

FoodPrints lessons use this approach in three parts:

Engage: Students are engaged in the Big Idea and Guiding Questions by activating prior knowledge and experiences.

Explore: Students work as a class or in small groups to explore the guiding questions through hands-on and minds-on investigations.

Evaluate and Close: Students reflect on and synthesize what they have learned.
