Join Us In Celebrating National Farmers Market Week!

Jul. 30, 2021

National Farmers Market Week (NFMW) is here! Join us in this national celebration of farmers markets, taking place from Sunday, August 1st to Saturday, August 7th. NFMW is an opportunity to recognize the tremendous impact farmers markets have in our local communities and regional food systems. This season, FRESHFARM is operating 25 markets and farm stands. To celebrate and help you discover new markets, we’ve created a Market Passport, and you can earn prizes for visiting markets across the region! Market managers have also planned activities and giveaways at markets. Check out the schedule below to see how you can join the fun!

Market Passport

Pick up a Market Passport and discover your new favorite market! When you visit new farmers markets for the entire month of August, you have the chance to earn prizes from FRESHFARM. Bring your Market Passport to the FRESHFARM market information tent to receive a sticker for each different market location you visit in August. Visit multiple market locations to earn market money!

  • Shop at 5 different market locations in the month of August and receive a $10 market gift certificate.
  • Shop at 10 different market locations in the month of August and receive a $20 market gift certificate.
  • Shop at 11 or more different market locations in the month of August and you will be entered into a drawing to receive a $100 market gift certificate!

Check in with the market managers at the information tent for additional details.

Support the Fresh Match Program

Celebrate National Farmers Market Week by giving the gift of local food!  When you donate to our Fresh Match program, you can help a neighbor enjoy the farmers market. Fresh Match provides a dollar-for-dollar match on all SNAP/EBT, P-EBT, WIC, and Senior FMNP benefits so that families on a tight food budget can enjoy fresh farmers market foods without worrying about cost.

What’s more, when you donate $50 or more, we’ll send you a limited edition “DC Eats Local” tote bag (while supplies last). These very special bags were designed by Maxine Payne, a former FoodPrints student who just graduated from School Without Walls High School. Maxine donated her hand-printed tote bags in support of FRESHFARM’s food access work in the region. Don’t miss your chance to show off one of these bags during your next farmers market visit!
