Garlic Herb Bread

This garlic-herb spread on toasted bread is a great companion for soups and salads.

Ingredients:

2 baguettes

4-6 cloves garlic, peeled and minced

1½ cups fresh parsley leaves, minced

½ cup mixed fresh herbs (any combination of rosemary, oregano, sage, basil, cilantro), minced

8 tbsp. (½ cup) butter, softened to room temperature OR 8 tbsp. extra virgin olive oil

Ingredients:

2 baguettes

Directions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F.
  2. Split then baguettes in half lengthwise.
  3. Wash the garlic cloves, parsley, and other fresh herbs. Then peel and finely mince them as noted in the ingredients list.
  4. In a medium bowl, combine the butter, garlic, and herbs. Mash the garlic and herbs into the butter by hand or with a fork.
  5. Spread the garlic-herb butter evenly onto the insides of the baguettes. Wrap in aluminum foil and ask for an adult’s help to place in the preheated oven.
  6. Bake until heated through, about 15-20 minutes. Then carefully remove from the oven and let cool slightly before slicing into servings.

Note: The garlic-herb butter spread is also delicious on regular toast, or you can put a pat on top of cooked rice, chicken, or fish.
