Ingredients:
2 baguettes
4-6 cloves garlic, peeled and minced
1 ½ cups fresh parsley leaves, minced
½ cup mixed fresh herbs (any combination of rosemary, oregano, sage, basil, cilantro), minced
8 Tbsp (½ cup) butter, softened to room temperature OR 8 Tbsp extra virgin olive oil
Equipment:
Oven
Kitchen knife
Cutting board
Medium bowl
Aluminum foil
Potholders
Directions:
- Gather all the ingredients and equipment. Preheat the oven to 375°.
- Wash the produce and prepare it as detailed in the ingredients list. Split the baguettes in half lengthwise,
- In a medium bowl, combine the butter, garlic, and herbs. Mash the garlic and herbs into the butte with a fork or food processor.
- Spread the garlic-herb butter evenly onto the insides of the baguettes. Wrap in aluminum foil and ask for an adult’s help to place in the preheated oven.
- Bake until heated through, about 15-20 minutes. Then carefully remove from the oven and let cool slightly before slicing into servings.
Note: The garlic-herb butter spread is also delicious on regular toast, or you can put a pat on top of cooked rice, chicken, or fish.
