Smith Meadows Farm is an eighth-generation family farm nestled in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains in Berryville, VA, offering grass-fed beef, lamb, and pork as well as free-range eggs, handmade pastas, cured meats, and prepared meals. Their cattle, pigs, goats, and chickens are regularly rotated to a fresh paddock of grass in an effort to create fields and animals that are more resistant to drought and other extreme weather associated with climate change. Smith Meadows handles all of their animals humanely from the day they are born and avoids by-products, growth hormones, antibiotics, commercial dewormers, chemical fertilizers, pesticides, and herbicides.
Smith Meadows welcomes visitors to its farm store daily and also operates the Smithfield Farm Bed and Breakfast, which dates back to 1824. Visitors to the farm or historic bed and breakfast can enjoy strolling through a nationally recognized birding trail that winds through the pastures of roaming sheep, cattle, and pigs. Part of the FRESHFARM family since 2005, Smith Meadows works toward a model of sustainable farming and business practice that benefits the land, their customers, and their staff.
