FRESHFARM Announces Expanded Footprint for Arlington Market This Season!
In Partnership With Arlington County, Expansion Builds on 47-Year Legacy and Accelerates Market Growth
(Arlington, VA, March 17, 2026)— FRESHFARM is proud to announce the expansion of the FRESHFARM Arlington Market, one of the region’s most historic and beloved farmers markets. In partnership with Arlington County, FRESHFARM will be expanding the footprint of the Arlington Market this season to advance both the County’s vision for enhanced pedestrian-friendly public space in Courthouse Square and FRESHFARM’s mission to provide vibrant, economically sustainable outlets for regional farmers and producers. The market, located at 1400 N Courthouse Road, operates year-round on Saturdays. Main season hours (April through December) are 8 am to 12 pm. Winter season hours (January through March) are 9 am to 12 pm.
First opened in 1979, the Arlington Farmers Market has operated continuously for 47 years and remains a landmark gathering space for the community. The expansion comes at a time of strong market performance. In 2025, Arlington Market sales grew by 11%, significantly outpacing many of the farmers markets in the FRESHFARM network. Interest from farmers and producers who want to participate in the market has also surged. The market has a reputation for excellence and regularly receives far more vendor applications than it can accommodate, denying acceptance to more than 60 vendors annually. The expansion will open up around a dozen new vendor spots.
“Arlington is a cornerstone of our farmers market network,” said Cat Oakar, Executive Director of FRESHFARM. “This expansion allows us to welcome more regional farmers and producers, strengthen local supply chains, and continue building a market that reflects Arlington’s energy, diversity, and commitment to community. We’re excited to provide new opportunities at one of our flagship markets for farmers and producers to grow their businesses.”
Sales data from other expanded FRESHFARM markets suggests the Arlington Market is poised to maintain above-average performance. “The continued growth of the Arlington Farmers Market highlights the strong demand for fresh, locally grown food and the important role regional farmers play in our community,” said Jane Rudolph, Director of Arlington County’s Department of Parks and Recreation. “We’re proud to support this expansion, creating more opportunities for farmers to connect directly with residents while making fresh produce more accessible to the Arlington community.”
With nearly five decades of history and a clear upward trajectory, the FRESHFARM Arlington Market continues to demonstrate how local government partnership and nonprofit expertise can work together to strengthen regional agriculture and animate public spaces.
